Roger from Kent sent me this picture of his
IIA. In his own words - "I have a series 2A 1-Ton which I bought as a
wreck and have replaced the chassis with a new galvanised one from
Richards chassis and done a fairly comprehensive restoration and its
back on the road now. Its chassis number is 22900156H and is tax free.
I think it was built with a Safari type body for Kent County Council
Highways department, then sold to a local recovery firm who converted
it into a pick-up and added a Harvey-Frost recovery crane. They never
registered it in their name (trade plates, no need for MOT on a
recovery truck) so officially I am the second owner.
It left the
factory grey, was painted bright yellow, then gold with white
signwriting. The gold has now faded to brown. I will be repainting it
sometime but have not made my mind up yet. I intend to put the mounting
plates for the Harvey-Frost back so I can put it back when needed,
though its not a five minute job to put it on."
