East Midlands Electricity Board

EMEB made use of a great variety of Landrovers from standard series vehicles, to Forward Controls, 1-Tons, and Defenders. Some were also cherry picker vehicles.

EMEB vehicles were usually 109" hard tops with ladder racks and rear racking, or truck cabs with 3/4 tilts.

Some Forward control series IIBs were box vans. The old EMEB district is now Central Networks and has amalgamated with MEB.

EMEB Series IIB Forward Controls in the 1970s - note box body vehicle to the left. The canvas top vehicle was a 2.25 Diesel version.

1960s EMEB Series IIA 109" Cherrypicker. It doesn't look very stable by modern standards.

EMEB 1-Ton 109" Series III from 1974. Note ladder rack and mechanical drum winch. ONV231M had a sister vehicle, ONV232M. Both were based in Northampton.

EMEB 1-Ton 109" Series IIA. Note the gas canister locker on the vehicle side behind the cab doors, and the heavy load of ladders. This is one of four IIA 1-Tons based in Northampton, registration numbers included BNV745K and BNV746K. Note at this stage it is still on bargrip tyres, Michelin XS tyres came later after the bagrips proved to have "interesting" handling in the wet.
